<What you get/>
Requirement-to-test-to-defect traceability inside Jira, without manual reconciliation
Reusable test cases composed into cycles rather than rewritten each release
Automated results linked back into cycles so coverage reporting includes automation
Guidance on which cases justify scripted detail and which should stay lightweight
What it is
Zephyr Scale adds structured test management to Jira: reusable test cases, versioned test cycles, and traceability linking requirements to cases to executions to defects. That traceability is usually the reason it gets bought — regulated and enterprise clients need to demonstrate what was tested against which requirement, not just that testing happened.
How PerfectQA uses Zephyr Scale
Zephyr Scale is what we use when a client needs traceability that survives an audit — regulated environments, or any release where someone has to demonstrate that a requirement was tested and by whom. Because it lives inside Jira, test cases sit next to the requirements and defects they relate to instead of in a separate system with a manual reconciliation step that nobody keeps current. We structure test cases into reusable folders and cycles so a regression pass is composed from existing cases rather than rewritten each release, and we link automated execution results back into cycles so the coverage picture includes automation instead of showing manual runs only. The discipline that matters is keeping cases at a maintainable level of detail — a scripted step-by-step case for a stable flow is fine, but the same detail on a volatile one becomes stale documentation within a sprint.
